The Prophetic Way.. [STP Fall 11]

This weekend has been one of the 'fruitful' ones. Alhamdulillah. STP was awesome. A brief intro regarding it. STP stands for Sacred Time Project. It's a weekend workshop organized by my university's Muslim Student Association. Theme for this Fall: Building a Community of Light: Embodying the Prophetic Legacy. Fee = $30. Main Speakers = Imam Siraj Wahhaj (all the way from Brooklyn NY) and Imam Abdullatif Finch (alll the wayy from Oakland, California)

Thank you Allah. Thank you kak B for inviting me. I made a last minute decision to attend the STP. My heart was closed to even consider this earlier the week. I'm tired I'm occupied with Muktamar stuffs, mind boggling engineering stuff; dynamics, vibration, friction-static or kinetic?, kineMatics. Challenging you'd say but ergh, sometimes I have ZERO idea what am I facing. But I'm gonna love this, trust me. Ummi, ayah, in case you're reading this, I'll become a successful Muslim engineer inshaallah! Inshaallah...

Ok back to STP. It started after Jumu'ah prayer. The sessions are:

1) The Bigger Picture: Upholding the Prophetic Legacy for Mankind; Imam Abdullatif

2) The Final Khutba of the Prophet pbuh; Imam Siraj Wahhaj

3) Communal Obligations: The Youth as a Change Agent in Our Communities; Imam Siraj

4) Gender Interactions: Creating a Modest Atmosphere; Imam Abdullatif

5) Enhancing Our Relationship with Allah; Imam Siraj

6) Structures of Islamic Plurality: Why There is More Than One Way Right Way to Practice; Imam Abdullatif

7) A Dose of Reality: Confronting Conflict within our Communities; Imam Siraj

8) Understanding the Bonds of Brotherhood and Sisterhood; Imam Siraj

9) The Fruits of Islamic Knowledge; Imam Abdullatif

10) To the Beat of a Different Drummer; Glad Tidings to the Strangers

Mind
Pardon me but the moment I was reading the theme and the captivating titles of the sessions, my mind automatically thought of Muktamar. How I can kinda borrow the titles to be used for our sessions. Getting the idea how to make Muktamar more interesting yet beneficial. I was thinking of asking the MSA's committees how to do fundraising too, how to connect to the local Muslim-businesses to eventually get some sponsors. And I did. Imam Siraj and Imam Abdullatif were so amazing, I was thinking of asking them whether they can be at Las Vegas this December. But second thought, I'm not really sure whether I should just jump in and ask as there are already other comrades in charge of speakers. But the main idea I'm trying to convey is, the moment you've gotten your head into something, you'd see everything around you in that perspective. How I wish I can see the dunya in the akhirah point of view in EVERYTHING I do, EVERYWHERE I go, EVERYTIME..

Gaze VS Look
On the first day, I saw my brother and thought of saying Hi, but second thought, nah, I shouldn't. He's surrounded by other brothers. I spotted some of our juniors too. How 'sejuk hati' to see them joining. Unfortunately, there were all just brothers. Sisters were just me and kak Basyirah. I wasn't trying hard enough. I didn't try at all I guess. Next time next time! I'm gonna invite them 'hard'. Actually, what I wanna say is, my brother didn't even notice me that day. The next day, he called me asking where I was at the moment. I said Duderstat. Then he knew I was there too. And the reason he suspected it is because he heard my voice in the lecture room responding to one of the questions of the Imam. Lowering his gaze, yes. But he didnt even see me. =,= So sad.

Prophet Ibrahim r.a.
One of the things that caught my attention is, about Prophet Ibrahim. I've always wondered why in our salah everyday, we are to mention Prophet Ibrahim r.a in our tahiyyats. I kinda know but not know.. I was oblivious. :( Indeed the reason why is Prophet Ibrahim r.a is mentioned in the Quran as khalilullah. Khalil of Allah. A friend of Allah. One that Allah loves. Why would Allah say that? Allah knows more but to try to think about it, whether we realized or not, Prophet Ibrahim is among those who have been tested by Allah greatly. First instance, the sacrifice of his own son, Isa r.a. Second, to be asked by Allah to leave his wife and child in the dessert alone with little food and water to drink. Third, to be thrown into fire. Mashaallah subhanallah, why would you be loved by Allah if you obeyed everything Allah said without any reluctance..?? And so, Allah has ordered the fire to be cold and to not hurt Prophet Ibrahim r.a even a little..

On the last day, I was not able to be at the lectures. I arrived only in time to perform Zuhr in jamaah and lunch. But I'm really grateful. Although for a short time, I've gained a lot.

The Prophet's Final Khutba.
For best results, please pause all the songs/musics you are listening to. And watch the video in full screen. You'd cry.....
